Snapchat and Adaptability

Snapchat and Adaptability

Whether you have learning as part of your top 5 themes (Gallup Strengths Finder) or not (like me), we all have to learn and adapt to the times so that we can be more effective with what we do.

While I was studying the use of Snapchat for my work, I was reminded that social media channels are not all the same and it’s best not to post exactly the same content on each channel. In order to maximize the channel’s features, content must be tailored per channel. This is especially true for Snapchat. Since snaps get deleted after 24 hours, Snapchat is not the place to publish announcements or important information. This is pretty much everything that I know about Snapchat right now.

I’m millenial by age but I’m very simple-minded so when the UI (user interface) of Snapchat was too complicated for me, I got frustrated and I uninstalled it! You’ll read in my previous post that now I need to study it for work. It’s not easy for me but I’m learning.

Whether you have learning as part of your top 5 themes (Gallup Strengths Finder) or not (like me), we all have to learn and adapt to the times so that we can be more effective with what we do. Organizations who have been successful but do not adapt might get trapped in their glory days and won’t be able to figure out why they are losing market share (if ever they do realize that they are). I remember a leader sharing that in the time that we live in—world wide web, social media, instant gratification, attention spans less than a gold fish’s—what is necessary for success is no longer product, but adaptability. There are so many things we can’t control and things are changing faster than ever, but if we are adaptable, success is not out of reach.

Let me submit that if we are to be adaptable, we must be humble enough to accept and admit that we need change, that how we’ve been doing things may need to change. Pride will definitely get in the way.

Pride lands you flat on your face;
humility prepares you for honors.
Proverbs 29:23 MSG

What was the most recent thing you needed to adjust to be able to be more effective at what you do? Tell me about it! Message me or leave a comment below. Would love to hear your story!

P.S. And because I thought I could edit videos and publish them to Snapchat later (go ahead and laugh), I’ll just leave this here so that my efforts don’t go to waste.

I am the author of the book, When God Could’ve But He Didn’t. I am the happy wife of my happy husband, Pao. As I write this, both of us are happily hoping for at least two more children. I was able to successfully post a snap on June 11.
