Rambla Food Adventure!

Rambla Food Adventure!

Last night we had our first ever Spanish restaurant date: Rambla. It’s been a while since we tried something new and I’m really glad we did! Here’s a rundown of what we ordered. Oh my gosh, you have to try their Sicilian Limonata! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

We’ve been going to specialty restos recently, the last two were at Florabel and Felix. Last night we had our first ever Spanish restaurant date: Rambla. It’s been a while since we tried something new and I’m really glad we did! This is probably the highlight of our week-long staycation (another first) which turned out to be such a great time of just sleeping and eating and laughing! It was quite nice to be together doing nothing.

As a first-timer both at Rambla and at a tapas place, I was a bit lost with the menu. No pictures. Good thing we’re millenials. Haha.

Here’s a rundown of what we ordered. It’s a long list but we ordered mostly tapas… but okay fine, I think we ordered for four people! Haha! So if you just want to see the list of our favorites, click here. 🙂

Spherical Olives

Marinated in Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Tapas Menu

Must-try: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: Php45 per piece VAT-inclusive, subject to 10% service charge

You can’t dine at Rambla without trying these, especially if you love olives! But if you don’t like olives (what is wrong with you?), never mind ordering this because it’s simply pureed olives shaped back into big olives then marinated in extra virgin olive oil. They serve it table-side scooped from a jar onto a big spoon. Put the whole sphere into your mouth and you’ll be lost for words with how the flavor bursts! There’s something wrong with Pao (he does not like olives), so he didn’t order any. I couldn’t resist ordering a second spoon even after we ordered dessert! I was trying to tell Pao how much I loved these and I tried to narrate my gastro pleasure… but I found no words. All sound effects. 🤣

Ricotta Gnudis

With Shiitake Mushroom Sauce, Rosemary, and Hazelnuts
Tapas Menu

Must-try: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: Php395 VAT-inclusive, subject to 10% service charge

It’s like gnocchi but more silky and cheesy. Cheese lovers probably won’t share this dish with anyone. Glad that Pao and I are married that he had no choice but to share this with me.

Gambas

On Crispy Chicken Skin
Tapas Menu

Must-try: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: Php425 VAT-inclusive, subject to 10% service charge

The crispy chicken skin was flat and tasted like it was lechon skin! The gambas was good and it tasted like it was cooked on the chicken skin dripping. The gambas and chicken skin went so well together!

Beef Tenderloin

Topped with Foie and Caramelized Apples
Tapas Menu

Must-try: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: Php825 VAT-inclusive, subject to 10% service charge

It’s expensive for a tapas order, but you should try this at least once. Pao never really liked any kind of liver, though liver pate is an exception (again, what is wrong with him?), so tonight I was so happy and proud that he ate foie gras! I had him try foie gras before but he really didn’t like the taste and texture. He couldn’t believe that what he ate tonight was foie gras… he loved it! And the beef… oh-so-good! We had it cooked to medium. It was so tender and, hmmm… supple! Just loved it. Only wish there were more than four strips on the plate. Oh well.

Foie Gras and Pineapple Jam Empanadas

Fritos Menu

Must-try: ⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: Php350 VAT-inclusive, subject to 10% service charge

Hmmm… I actually don’t remember why we ordered this. We probably saw it in Foursquared. It was okay. It’s like upscaled fastfood dessert pie. It’s not bad, but compared to all the other items that we tried, this is most likely something that we won’t order again.

Churroreo

With Vanilla Ice Cream and Caramel
Dessert Menu

Must-try: ⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️
Price: Php275 VAT-inclusive, subject to 10% service charge

It was okay. Get it for experience, but there’s nothing really special about it. Again, it wasn’t bad. Just okay. I craved for La Lola churros after having this.

❤️ Sicilian Limonata ❤️

Drinks Menu

Must-try: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+⭐️
Price: Php350 VAT-inclusive, subject to 10% service charge

YES 6 out of 5 stars! If you’re in the area, you SHOULD NOT MISS this! Your trip to Rambla will be so worth it with just this drink! Fresh lemonade with almond flavor… it’s SOOOOO GOOOOOD!!! I’m married to Pao so I had to share this with him and he loved this drink too! I finally found my go-to drink for when I get preggy again. It’s non alcoholic! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Marieta

Drinks Menu

Must-try: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: Php330 (glass) VAT-inclusive, subject to 10% service charge

Probably found my favorite white wine, thanks to Our Awesome Planet’s visit to Rambla back in 2013: “full body, bright straw colour, touch of lemon, lots of peach and green apple”. For me, it’s a simple drink, light and fruity, just the way I like it.

Sangria Blanca

Drinks Menu

Must-try: ⭐️
Taste: ⭐️
Price: Php400 VAT-inclusive, subject to 10% service charge

I’m in search for a sangria I tasted about 6-7 years ago. I haven’t really found one that’s close to wherever that was. Rambla’s Sangria Blanca is probably great for others, just not my thing.

Estrella Galicia

Spanish Beer
Drinks Menu

(ooops… sorry forgot to take a picture… wasn’t really interested haha!)

Must-try: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: Php180 VAT-inclusive, subject to 10% service charge

Sipped to taste and it’s okay, but way bearable for me than the mere smell of other beers! Not really a beer person.

In summary, here are our favorites from our first visit at Rambla:

  1. Sicilian Limonata
  2. Marieta
  3. Spherical Olives
  4. Ricotta Gnudis
  5. Beef Tenderloin

And this ends our first food adventure at Rambla. We will surely be back to try out other items on their menu, but most especially for the olives and limonata!
